Caitie Hope Rose and Vision EH Continue to Claim Top Ribbons

Caitie Hope Rose and Vision EH continue to consistently produce double clear and fast rounds for top ribbons in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumpers, pictured here at the Kentucky National Horse Show.

Lexington, KY - September 23, 2019 – Telluride Farm rider Caitie Hope Rose wrapped up a successful Kentucky National Horse Show with trainer and USEF Licensed Official Diane Carney. Rose and her talented horse, Vision EH, owned by Kathleen O. Hope, demonstrated how the Telluride/Diane Carney program continues to work for them years after the foundation was set in Rose’s junior years. Rose, of Highland Park, Illinois, earned a second and two thirds in the competitive Low Amateur-Owner Jumper division with the top three riders only fractions of a second apart.

“The program is the same year after year,” commented Carney. “Caitie knows how to show up ready to compete and is confident and capable thanks to the system that’s been in place. She knows what to expect and draws on the skills that she’s developed over the years. Even though she’s not riding multiple horses every day like she was as a junior, she has the foundation that allows her to be successful years later.”

Rose’s mount, Vision EH, is a 14-year-old Holsteiner mare by Cassini II, purchased in 2013. The pair started earning championships in the 7/8 –year-old jumpers before moving into the Low Junior/Amateur Jumpers. By 2014, the duo moved into the high division and by 2015 started to add more championships and grand prix ribbons to their resume. Rose was champion in Atlanta, reserve at Chagrin, won the $5,000 High Junior/Amateur Classic at Showplace Fall and claimed a top ten ribbon in the $25,000 Tapestry Farm Grand Prix. In 2016, they won the $25,000 David Q Wright/Step Right Up Memorial Grand Prix in St. Louis and took third in the St. Louis grand prix the following month.

"Diane’s program has always incorporated short-term and long-term goals for me. As I’ve gotten older, the goals may evolve, but the program has always stayed the same. Excellent care, training, and focus are a few things that come to mind. I take a lot of what I’ve learned in the 20+ years of riding with Diane and apply it to other areas of my life, which has served me well," said Rose.

Rose rode to win two classes and finish third in the NAL Classic on Benchmark Stable’s Johnny Bravo in the High Adult Amateur Jumpers to take home the reserve championship week I at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival this summer. In previous years, Rose has also earned top ribbons during WEF catch riding horses such as Cassanova 30 for Telluride Farm and Virginia Bartholomay.

The Amateur rider recently retired her grand prix horse after an amazing career together with the 19-year-old Total Touch. Rose and Total Touch earned numerous victories in the grand prix ring and Junior/Amateur Jumpers. The pair won top ribbons at Spruce Meadows and finished second in the tough $75,000 Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the grass at Trader’s Point just to name a few. Their success took them to Devon, Harrisburg, The National Horse Show, The Winter Equestrian Festival, The Omaha International, Spruce Meadows and many shows around the Midwest. Rose has been riding with Carney of Antioch, Illinois, and West Palm Beach, Florida, since the small pony division and her champion pony, Stocking Stuffer. As a junior, Rose added many titles to her resume including USET Talent Search Gold Medal Winner and Best Child Rider at Devon, Harrisburg, and Ocala.

The consistent program makes going to the ring the same as any of the last 20 years in Rose’s riding career. As a junior, Rose was extremely competitive in the hunters, jumpers and equitation. She rode the famous Lyle, owned by Stephanie Keen, to a triple-crown championship in the Junior Hunters by earning the tricolor at three indoor finals in 2008 with the same horse in the same year. The pair earned the Championship in the Small Junior Hunters at Capital Challenge, Harrisburg and Washington. Lyle was named The Chronicle of the Horse’s Show Hunter of the Year. Rose earned the HITS Ocala Circuit Championship in the older Small Junior Hunters after earning four consecutive Championships on Lyle. Rose was presented with the William R. “Bill” Fitch Sportsmanship Award before the start of the $200,000 Budweiser American Invitational at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Rose then took home the Small Junior 16-17 Hunter Championship with Lyle at the Atlanta Spring Premiere Horse Show in Conyers, GA and continued on to win the Small Junior Hunter Stake class with Lyle at the Devon Horse Show.

Rose is married now after graduating from Lafayette College and works in finance in the Chicago area. She has the support of her husband Ben, who is always in the stands rooting for his favorite rider. Rose fits riding into her world and shows when her schedule allows. The team at Telluride includes Serah Vogus from Millcreek Equestrian, who keeps Rose’s horses fit and ready to go. Rush Weeden and Brookwood Farm provide an amazing place for the horses that have never been in better shape and get to live in a fantastic facility. Carney remains the Chef d’Equipe and organizes the vet, farrier, program, and show schedule. Rose meets up with Carney, who frequents Chicago when she’s not judging, and at the shows they go to the ring together.

"I foresee horses always being in my life. I’m having fun in the 1.25m divisions, but would like to get back to the higher levels again someday. I’m also enjoying the time I have for flatwork and I think that’s translating into Victoria’s consistency," added Rose.

Rose continues to earn top ribbons in the Low Junior/Amateur Jumpers at top shows across the country such as the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, the Kentucky National, WEF and the World Equestrian Center.
