George H. Morris Returns to Stoney Ridge Farm

Morris to Judge MHJA Medal Finals Before Clinic

Temperance, MI – August 28, 2015 – George H. Morris returns to conduct a clinic for Scott Alder's Stoney Ridge Farm in Temperance, MI, September 7-9, 2015 at Hunter’s Run Stables. Morris will judge the Michigan Hunter Jumper Association Medal Finals on Sunday, September 6th, before teaching the three-day clinic, which includes USHJA Trainer Certification.

The former U.S. Chef d’ Equipe travels the world educating riders on the basics of horsemanship and the forward seat. His lengthy resume attests to his success as a rider, trainer and Chef d’ Equipe, earning multiple Olympic Medals. His clinics are methodical and organized, stressing proper turnout of both horse and rider, basic position and horsemanship. Michigan clinic participants and trainers are looking forward to the time with Morris.

The clinic is organized by Scott Alder of Chelsea, MI, a USEF R judge, course designer, trainer and continuous supporter of the Michigan Hunter Jumper Association (MHJA). Alder had a great turnout last year and rave reviews of Morris' clinic from riders, spectators and Trainer Certification participants. Prior to 2014, Morris had not been to Michigan in over twenty years.

"Having George (Morris) come to our area and teach both riders and trainers really brings horsemanship to a higher level," said organizer Scott Alder. "It's exciting for the young riders to have George judging the medal finals. Just the thought of him coming has the riders working hard to prepare. Getting to ride with him in the clinic is the icing on the cake for them."

Monday, September 7th will be the first day of the George H Morris clinic and USHJA Trainer Certification. Group times are:

9:00am – 11:00am  2’9”-3’
11:00am – 1:00pm  3’-3’3”
2:30pm – 4:30pm  3’6” and up

Diane Carney, Antioch, IL, handles the barn management details for Alder. Carney, a USEF R HU/EQ/JP judge, has held the George Morris Chicago clinic for over 25 years and has Morris' clinic system organized.

"George's clinics are very specific with equipment lists and meticulous organization so everyone gets the most out the clinic situation. It benefits daily horsemanship, helping trainers and riders establish better habits in the barn and competitively," said Carney.

Auditors are welcome for $75per day. Trainer Certification is an additional one-time fee of $50.
