Great Things Come in Small Packages
 

Crete, IL - June 19, 2018 -- It was a battle between small and large ponies in the $2,500 USHJA Pony Derby during the Showplace Spring Spectacular III at Balmoral Park on Tuesday, June 19th. Although it was slightly overcast, the ponies shined with their abilities to navigate the beautiful but challenging course, complete with long approach single jumps, a five to a two stride, and bending lines. It was a small pony who lead the victory gallop this time.

Hallie Moss aboard her chestnut small pony, Training Wheels, took the top spot early on in the day, and waited to see how the other riders and ponies would answer. It was a close call but Moss and Training Wheels would end up the winners that day scoring 161, with Maya Thomas and her large pony, Until Tomorrow, following up in second place with 154.

Moss, of Fishers, Indiana, was ecstatic to win, and although the pair teamed up in April, they made their winning course look like they had been together forever.

“I usually get really excited before I go into the ring, and I always encourage my pony to be excited also by saying ‘Let’s go little T!’,” said Moss.

Trainers, Kristen Moss, her mother, and Meghan Clark of Treesdale Farm, had great things to say about Moss and Training Wheels.

“We were really working on staying on the rhythm and keeping to the middle of the jumps, and Hallie and Training Wheels did just that. We are so proud of them both,” said Kristen Moss. 
 
They commended Moss on how hard of a worker she is and how she rode each course well from start to finish.

Moss is excited to keep showing at the beautiful Balmoral Park for the Showplace Spring Spectacular III, and most excited to be competing in the Small Pony division this weekend.
