JUMP FOR ALZ Fundraiser is a Winner

Raising Funds for Alzheimer's Research and Awareness

Lisa Goldman sported an #ENDALZ armband in the grand prix ring.

Crete, IL - June 27, 2017 – JUMP FOR ALZ would like to thank everyone at the Showplace Spring Spectacular III Horse Show for their donations to the Alzheimer's Association during the fundraiser. Special thanks to Showplace Productions, the HITS staff, judges and announcers for your assistance with the event. Together, over $10,000 was raised for the Alzheimer's Association.

The group of trainers who hosted the fundraiser, have each been affected by someone with the incurable disease, which was their inspiration for hosting the event.

Riders had a fun day with their horses while supporting a good cause.

A raffle was held on Derby Day thanks to generous donations from:
Andrew Ryback Photography
Barrington Saddlery
Chicago Equestrian
Exceptional Equestrian
Equo
Galway Farm/Molly McAdow
GhoDho
Jessica Love
Mona’s Embroidery
Rider’s Boutique
Stanbridge Saddlers

Diane Carney gave a lesson on the Longest Day and donated all proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association. (pictured above)

Thank you to everyone who bought JUMP FOR ALZ bracelets and pins. Exhibitors had an especially fun time with the #ENDALZ armbands, where professionals wore them on Wednesday to be considered for BEST RIDE of THE DAY and Junior/Amateurs wore them on Saturday. Riders sported their #ENDALZ purple from the pony ring to the grand prix ring. Not only did the armbands raise proceeds, but also created awareness and got people talking about the disease.

Barns got together to have fun and participate in the fundraising.

Some trainers donated their money for rides, some barns donated for the number of ribbons won or clear rounds jumped, some donated as a group and some donated generously because they too know someone with the disease.

Exceptional Equestrian donated 5% of their sales on Saturday and let customers make a personal post on their board in support of the cause.

Congratulations to BEST RIDE of THE DAY winners:

"I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of people who got on board," said organizer Brenda Mueller of Chicago Equestrian. "Sometimes you think you are the only one having to deal with a friend or family member with the disease only to find out more people are faced with alzheimer's or dementia than you think."

Both hunter riders and jumper riders joined in to raise funds.

"We all did this fundraiser because we know someone with the disease. I'm doing it in honor of my mother, Shannon, who has dementia. She was the best horse show mom ever and would be pleased that we are doing something related to horses to help find a cure," added Mueller.

The group hopes to do the fundraiser again and perhaps make it an annual event.

Thank you for your support!  Proceeds will help to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, with no cure.
