Riders Praise Jill Knowles' Program at Hidden Knoll Farm

Hidden Knoll Farm offers custom training programs and luxurious amenities. Jill Knowles pictured with Elizabeth Lang.

Wadsworth, IL - September 22, 2016 – Jill Knowles of Hidden Knoll Farm in Wadsworth, Illinois, has been a professional for over 26 years and specializes in the ability to produce an individual program for each horse and rider combination. Understanding that not every pair fits into the same program, has helped Hidden Knoll riders develop at their own pace and achieve success in the show ring. Riders in the program praise Knowles for the accomplishments they have achieved under her watchful eye.

Teal Walker of Chicago, came to ride with Knowles four years ago after a 15 year break from riding. Walker jumped headfirst back into not only the sport, but also the show ring.  She never imagined when she started riding again that she would be where she is today, while having so much fun in the process. The combination of the instruction and confidence in each rider's ability, along with finding a horse, Shaamen, that Walker has all of the confidence in the world in, allowed her to fast-track her way from the adult jumpers to the high-amateurs in two years.

“… The well-being and care of the horses are the most important things to Jill and her team. Over the years I have witnessed a progression in the skill of the riders that have come to Jill, as well as a transformation in the horses that she works with.

She allows me to work with my horse to figure things out, guiding us to grow together as a ‘team’, which has helped to create a bond between my horse and myself. Of course everyone wants to win, but it is not all about the ribbons, it is also about growing and learning every time you step foot in the show ring, whether it’s an amazing ride that you want to repeat or mistakes made that you learn and grow from.”

Scott and Karen Lang of Lake Forest, Illinois, chose Knowles a year ago for their fifteen-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. She now has two horses, Paco L and Sothis D Ouilly, and has improved tremendously. Lang was third and fifth in the Children’s Adult Jumper Classic at the Showplace Fall Championship and was champion and reserve in the Low Children’s Jumpers at Chagrin this year. Her goal is to move into the Low Junior Jumpers by the end of the Winter Equestrian Festival.

“Jill’s life experience and equine education comes through in her lessons and in formulating short and long term goals based on skill and achievement.  It is important to us as parents, that the person, who is one of the most influential people in our daughters' life, has integrity.

Jill is a "hands on" trainer and horse manager.  She is an effective instructor as well as a highly accomplished rider.  Her philosophy and skills give us a great deal of confidence and comfort entering into this sport.

In one year, our daughter has earned the confidence, horsemanship and riding skills to compete and place in high level competitions.”  - Karen Schroeder-Lang

Molly Zisook, Lake Forest, Illinois, is off to college this year so her horse C'est Si Bon was recently sold. Zisook was extremely successful in the 3'3" Junior Hunter division collecting numerous champion or reserve championships and earned top ribbons in the classics. She won the Zone 5 World Championship Hunter Rider title for her division in 2014.

“What I like best about Jill's training program is that each horse is treated differently and worked according to how they will perform best. Jill always has the horse's best interest at heart and wants them to be happy and comfortable at all times. Not only is she a great rider, she is an amazing teacher and has a great way of communicating different concepts and ideas to her riders. She is easily the most well-educated and hands-on trainer that I have ever ridden with. Winning ribbons isn't everything, it is the relationship with your horse that matters most. This is obviously very important to Jill because often times, you can find her in a stall spending time with one of her horses. The Hidden Knoll community is bonded in our love for horses and our friendships.”  - Molly Zisook

Knowles’ background and training includes some of the country's top professional influences. Besides her dressage background, Katie and Henri Prudent and George Morris play a significant role in her current training beliefs and methods.

Knowles will spend some of the winter in Wellington, Florida, giving her riders a chance to compete against some of the best horses and riders in the world. Her carefully thought out show schedule includes showing in Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan throughout the year as well as plenty of down time to work on basic skills without overworking the horses.
