Top Grand Prix Riders and Medal Champions to Speak at Galway Farm Classic Event

Hunter Holloway and Catherine Tyree Share Their Finals Experiences

Former ASPCA Maclay Medal Champion and top Grand Prix rider Hunter Holloway will be available Friday, September 7th for a Q&A session.

Long Grove, IL, August 20, 2018–  The expanded Galway Farm Classic, September 7-9, 2018 will feature two very special guest speakers along with the new Hunter Derby this year. Clinician and USEF Licensed Official, Diane Carney, will teach the riding sessions with special demonstrations by 2016 ASPCA Maclay finals winner Hunter Holloway and 2010 Hunterdon Cup winner, Catherine Tyree. The two riders will also share their experiences in a question and answer session with riders and auditors during a fantastic dinner each evening.

Holloway will demonstrate during the Friday sessions and will be the featured speaker on Friday evening. Holloway won the 2016 ASPCA Maclay Championships and the Washington Equitation Championships before turning professional. She now runs Hunter Holloway Stables in Topeka, KS and Wellington, FL. This season alone, Holloway has added to her long list of accomplishments, a first and second place finish in the $130,000 International Omaha Grand Prix with Eastern Jam and VDL Bravo S along with winning the prestigious AON Cup at the Spruce Meadows Horse Show with Eastern Jam. She will share her championship experiences with the groups along with her tips to success in the ring.

Catherine Tyree, a local Chicago favorite, won the Hunterdon Cup in 2010 and finished 3rd in the Maclay Finals in both 2010 and 2012. She continued to compete as an amateur to finish second in the Saugerties $1 Million Grand Prix in 2016 and added the U25 Leading Rider Award at the Washington International Horse Show in 2016 and 2017 to her resume, along with International experience. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2017 with a degree in Economics. Tyree will share her championship experiences with the groups on Saturday evening.

Sunday features a show day, where riders can practice what they learned in the clinic in a real show experience. Carney will then provide feedback to the riders after the classes are pinned. The event was a hit last year with participants raving about the helpful feedback they received from a judge in a horse show environment.

Friday begins with learning the details of the course walk, flat work and gymnastics. Saturday features the jumping clinic day with Carney, offering three groups of riders at heights of 2’6”, 3’ and 3’6”.

Amazing prizes, raffles and fantastic hospitality await clinic goers thanks to generous sponsors!  Whether you are heading to the Illinois Hunter Jumper Assoc. Medal Finals, a USHJA Zone final or the indoor finals, you won't want to miss this opportunity to prepare.
