Columbus, Ohio -- October 31, 2016 -- The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), now in its 15th season, welcomes new Zone Administrators to Zone One (Northeast) and Zone Three (Central Eastern States).  The IEA has also expanded enough to add a new position of Finance Manager to the Cleveland Heights, Ohio office. 

Kathryn Bordua of South Windsor, Connecticut, is the new Zone One Administrator. Bordua is currently a trainer and a coach of Full Circle Farm IEA Team.  She started riding horses at the age of three and formally started taking lessons at age nine. She studied Culinary Arts at the Connecticut Culinary Institute, but after college became a professional groom on the AA circuit. Now as a full-time coach and trainer, Bordua is an approved IEA Steward and has extensive experience as a volunteer in a variety of positions at IEA events. 
 

Marjorie Yeager of Warrenton, Virginia, is the new Zone Three Administrator. Yeager is a trainer at Moriah Farm and has been riding since she was seven-years-old. She graduated from Cazenovia College with a degree in Equine Business Management while riding in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). Since college, she has been a trainer of various levels of students while helping her husband start their jump rental company, Partridge Run, LLC. 

The IEA would like to commend Tara Matthews and Diane Holley, our outgoing Zone One and Three Administrators for their exceptional work during their time with IEA and for their assistance during the transition. 

Continuing Zone Administrators are:

William Niemi of Ashtabula, Ohio, will serve as IEA's Finance Manager. Niemi studied accounting and human resources at Kent State University, Lake Erie College and Cleveland State University. He also has a variety of experience in accounting, human resources, financial services, advertising, manufacturing and non-profit sectors.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the IEA has more than 13,500 middle and high school student-riders across the United States.  The IEA was organized to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction available to middle and secondary school students and is open to public and private schools and barn teams. No rider needs to own a horse to compete in the IEA.  Its purpose is to set minimum standards for competition, provide information concerning the creation and development of school associated equestrian sports programs, to generally promote the common interests of safe riding instruction and competition and education on matters related to equestrian competition at the middle and secondary school levels.
