Hott Horse Shows Offer Something Special

Hott Horse Shows at Maffitt Lake Equestrian Center, winner of the USHJA Members Choice Award Zone 6 in 2011 and 2010 welcomes everyone back to Cumming, Iowa for its Two Rivers Summer Festival horse shows which kick off August 8 and run through August 19.

The prize lists have been mailed and are also available on-line. “We’ve got a great schedule planned,” said Libby Hott who produces Hott Horse Shows with her husband and noted course designer, Tim Hott. “The shows continue to grow each year as riders experience our shows, the great competition and exhibitor-friendly environment,” she added.

Hott Shows’ Two Rivers Summer Festival I will offer the weekly $5,000 Open Welcome Stakes and the $25,000 Harley Hott Grand Prix on Saturday. And, in typical Hott style, exhibitors will be treated to ringside snacks, cheese, meat and fruit platters compliments of Hy-Vee Grocery Store during the Grand Prix. On Sunday, the snacks will move ringside for the $10,000 USHJA Hunter Derby and Sunday night, the Linback and Woodrun Exhibitor Party and steak cook out will feature Del “The Saxman” Jones and the Final Mix Band. There is no charge and all are welcome. And, don’t forget, Week I will also offer Zone 6 Championship Classes in the “A” Rated divisions.

Two Rivers Summer Festival II brings with it the Purina Mills Pre-Prix Party on Friday night with a barbeque and lots of Purina Mills “giveaways” as the prelude to the $25,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix which will take place on Saturday, August 17. During the Grand Prix, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa/Purina Mills Benefit Cookout for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, will take place under the VIP Pavilion. Tickets to the gala fundraiser and silent auction are available in the show office or directly through the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.Nikki Jewel, trainer and owner at Gem Stone Farm in Metawah, Illinois said, “I love coming to the Maffitt Lake Equestrian Center. Des Moines is a really nice area, an easy drive from Chicago, with great hotels and lots of good restaurants. Hott Horse Shows are lot of fun and always show us super hospitality!Everyone, horse show staff and other exhibitors and trainers, are very welcoming and helpful. The rings are a nice size, the jumps and courses are beautiful. We love doing the Derbies and love that there all levels of jumper classes available. The shows have great competition, offer something for everyone, and the days are done at a nice time.”

Hott Shows at Maffitt Lake Equestrian Center will offer its 2012 Year End Bonus Awards of $1500.00 each to the Best Junior Hunter Rider, Best Junior Jumper Rider, Best Amateur Hunter Rider, Best Amateur Jumper Rider and Best Professional Hunter Rider and finally Best Professional Jumper Rider. Bonuses will be determined by the horse/rider combination with the most money won from all six recognized Hott Horse Shows.

Hott Shows continue to offer price breaks for its loyal customers. For every ten stalls purchased by an individual trainer, receive the 11th for free if you book all of your stalls one week before the show week. And, if you don’t have ten horses, remember, you can always fish in the Maffitt Lake pond—if you catch the fish with the free stall tag, you get a stall for free!
