Numerous Awards, Prizes and Raffles Make a Perfect Day
Roscoe, IL – August 7, 2016 – It was a day of special events at the Perfecta Farm B Show at Ledges Sporting Horses. Riders took on the Grand Prix ring for the final day of competition featuring two hunter derbies, an Equitation Classic, the $1,000 Perfecta Farm Jumper Classic and the Jumper Sweeepstakes for an exciting, crowd cheering finale. The popular event also offered a long list of Grand Champion and Leading Rider Awards. The show has been the Illinois Hunter Jumper Association’s B Show of the Year multiple times with the support of numerous sponsors and huge effort from Perfecta Farm owner, Kim Gardiner.
 
Numerous items were donated for the raffle to benefit the Midwest Dachshund Rescue.
In addition to the list of special events and awards, Perfecta Farm hosts a raffle to benefit the Midwest Dachshund Rescue. An abundance of great items were donated for the raffle including gift baskets of dog treats and toys, wine gift baskets, jewelry, portraits and wall hangings. Exhibitors and spectators were also treated to an Ice Cream Social, perfect for the typical Chicago summer day.

The Perfecta Farm Hunter Derby saw 30 entries at 2’ and 2’6” with the top 12 returning for the handy round. Carmine D’Aversa earned scores of 80 and 85 for the win on Jan Barlow’s Mandalay. Just two points behind was Melissa Gierman with her Perfect Landing, taking the second place prize.
Barlow, Barrington Hills, Illinois, and her nine-year-old daughter, Lynnie, have been at Perfecta Farm for a little over a year. Barlow has only been riding for less than two years so is still very new to the sport. She and her daughter bought a horse and a pony last October and hadn’t seen a derby before her horse’s win today.
“I love it at Perfecta, it’s like a big family. This was our first horse show last year and we were clueless,” laughed Barlow. “Carmine (D’Aversa) is so patient and just told us where to go and what to bring. She was awesome. The trainers are so approachable, they really take the time and they really care about the horses and us. It was exciting to see our horse win the derby!”

Riders continued to try their hand in the big grand prix ring for the Chicago Equestrian Hunter Derby. Perfecta trainer Mara Kranz-Olseng took the blue on Hayley Anderson’s Bombardier.
“I wasn’t expecting her to win but it was really cool that she did,” said Anderson, Wayne, Illinois.
Anderson has ridden with Perfecta Farm for about six months.
“I love it there,” Anderson smiled. “I’ve been to a lot of barns but they are just the best, I’ve been winning with them. I really like the motivation the trainers give you, it helps you get better.”
The Perfecta Farm Equitation Class was the biggest class of the day with 38 riders taking on the Grand Prix ring with the top 12 returning for a second round. It was Maggie Bresch of Barrington Hills, Illinois, who proved to be the best of the day, earning the blue ribbon with scores of 82 and 85 for the win. Bresch, only 12 years old, borrowed Frontier for the class and had only ridden him once at the barn but not recently. Bresch has ridden with Perfecta Farm for about three years.

"Perfecta Farm is awesome, I love the trainers there," smiled Bresch. "They know how I ride and what I do well in, they make sure I have the right horse to show. I really like the jumpers but I like the equitation too. I ride Keepin' Posted in the Low Children's Jumpers and will show him this next week at Ledges."
Keeping it in the family, Maggie's older sister, Celia, won the $1,000 Perfecta Farm Jumper Classic on Perfecta Farm's Antalya. Celia is no stranger to the winner's circle in the jumper ring, she has won numerous Children's Jumpers Championships and Classics at Premiere rated horse shows with trainers Gardiner and Olseng. Celia also qualified for the USEF/Pessoa Medal Finals and the ASPCA Maclay finals in 2015.

The final class of the day was the exciting Perfecta Farm Jumper Sweepstake, where the riders put the pedal to the metal in a friendly challenge. Kranz-Olsen and Charlotte won by just a few fractions of a second, beating out Celia Bresch for the win.
