Lisa Goldman receives the Leading Jumper Rider Rolex from Nic Meade of Grunos.
St.Charles, Il - September 15, 2012 – The Showplace Fall Classic Championships hosted the $25,000 Weathertech Grand Prix at Lamplight Equestrian Center. A field of 21 riders took a swing at the prize money in front of a full house of spectators all enjoying the perfect weather.
First to try out the track was Lisa Goldman and Morocco putting in a clear round followed by Josh VanerVeen and Bull Run’s Pistol Pete, also landing a clear round. From then on, it seemed to be four faulter after four faulter with the triple bar to a liverpool vertical taking its toll and an oxer off a short turn falling the most.
Eight of the 21 made it to the jump off with Lisa Goldman and Morocco returning first, setting a blazing time of 38.600 with a clear round. Next in, Josh VanderVeen and Bull Run’s Pistol Pete tried to catch Lisa but had 4 faults in 43.949. Maggie Jayne and Thomas Edison galloped for a time of 40.442 but also had 4 faults. Lisa Goldman returned on her second mount, Centurion B, to try to catch her own time. She managed a clean round in 39.714, but not quite fast enough to catch Morocco. Lillie Ross and Pako and Maddie Thatcher and Licapo both posted clean rounds but also not fast enough to catch Lisa.
Lisa ended her day with a first and second place finish and the Leading Jumper Rider Bonus, a Rolex watch donated by Grunos Diamonds.
