Tammy Provost and Libretto Claim the Blues in Performance 3'6" Working Hunters at Showplace Spring Spectacular II

Wayne, IL - June 11, 2014 - A rainy day didn't stop professional hunter riders from taking to the new GGT footing rings and derby-like courses designed by Skip Bailey for day one of the Showplace Production's Spring Spectacular II at Lamplight Equestrian Center.

The Wisconsin Equine ring was the location for the $2,500 Performance 3'6" and 3'3" Working Hunters. The two over fences classes for the division included the handy round as the second class. Winning both classes in the division was Libretto, owned by Alliy Moyer and ridden by professional Tammy Provost from Sheridan, IN. Provost rode with the precision and smoothness, for which she is known, to clinch the opening day wins. Moyer also shows the horse in the Amateur-Owner Hunter division and plans to do the USHJA National Hunter Derby in week three of Showplace Spring Spectacular Series. Moyer has had the horse for about three years, and has ridden him to many championships across the country.

Second place in the first class went to CR Moet, owned by Kira Telford of Chicago, and was ridden by Jodi Vazquez. The third went to Didi Mackenzie's To the Nines with Tracy Fenney of Flower Mound, Texas. Provost also took the fourth spot with Olivia Lawton's Junior Hunter, Granit.

In the handy round it was Provost who prevailed again, not only as the winner, but she also took second and third. Santerno, owned by Brenda Christenson, took the red ribbon and Granit took home the third.

In the Performance 3'3" Working Hunters, Rachel Johnson and Chrisma owned by Mary Loeber were the best in the class. Second went to Lindsay Ianello's Cornerstone with Josey Gentry in the irons and third to Provost, riding Rebecca Horwitz's Harko.

In the handy round it was Provost and Harko at the top of the leader board followed by Cornerstone and Gentry with Patty Taylor riding Marshall owned by Southern Arches, LLC to the third spot.

Thursday's Performance Hunters will include the under saddles and the division championships.

Next door in Hunter Ring 4, the Pre-Green Hunters jumped around in the afternoon showers. In the 3' section, Gentry loped the course with Jessica Ianello Brosche's Astaire to win the blue. Molly McAdow and Clark Kent, owned by Becky Mati, followed in second with Elizabeth Nestor's Covert, winning the third place ribbon with Laura Stern as the pilot.

The second class went to McAdow and Mary Beth Canfield's Class Clever. Kathleen Caya and Duet earned the red and Erin McCabe and St. Regis were third.

After raising the jumps for the Pre-Green 3'3" Hunters, it was Alexis Tantimonico who rode to win the blue with Alex McNally's For Adventure. Second was Provost with Beth Bailey's GamePlan, who won both the Pre-Green Stake class and the Pre-Green Incentive class last week.

Texas rider Tracy Fenney and MTM Frito won the second class with Maria Rasmussen and Castle Watch, owned by Use the Ring, LLC, in second and McAdow and Lanie Bricker's Charlie Brown taking third.

McAdow also won the $1,000 USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Stake with Class Clever. Trainer Lorrie Canady imported the horse in December and Canfield bought him to keep him around.

"He's just five and wonderful," said McAdow. "He's a great ride and always tries his best. Skip [Bailey] does a great job setting courses that show off the horses, and that's exactly what happened today. It rode really nice and had a great flow to show off the talent of each horse."

Texan Fenney and MTM Frito finished in second in the Stake with McAdow and Charlie Brown in third.

Thursday's Pre-Green Hunters include a $1,000 Pre-Green Hunter Classic, as well as the under saddles and the championship presentation.
