West Bend, WI - August 14, 2015 – Clinicians took to the rings to kick off the weekend at the Washington County Fairgrounds for the third annual Wisconsin Equine Derby Weekend presented by Old Seoul Equestrian and founder Courtney Hayden-Fromm of West Bend, WI.  Friday kicked off the spectacular Derby Weekend, with a day of education by top trainers and riders, Maggie Jayne and Haylie Jayne-Rolfe of Elgin, IL.

Clinician Maggie Jayne taught more than fifty jumper riders throughout the day. Jayne has an impressive resume in the equitation ring, hunter ring and jumper ring. In 2000, Jayne won the Junior Jumper Prix de States Individual Gold Medal at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and in 2002, she was a USEF Medal Finals winner. In 2009, Jayne won the title of Leading Hunter Rider at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. After a successful junior career, Jayne turned professional and now works for the family business, Our Day Farm.  Jayne also has won numerous championships riding for Pony Lane Farm and the Thatcher Family, earning them the USEF Leading Hunter Owner Title from 2009- 2012. She has trained riders to top indoor and National Championships in the Junior and Amateur Owner hunter and jumper divisions.

Haylie Jayne-Rolfe worked with hunter riders on the basics of showing a hunter.

In the hunter ring, Haylie Jayne-Rolfe worked with the hunter riders. Jayne-Rolfe is the youngest of the Alex Jayne family but has a resume as long as the rest of the family.  As a junior, she helped win a Prix De States Team Gold Medal at the 2005 Pennsylvania National Horse Show and claimed the Low Junior Jumper Circuit Championship at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) with Kinda Blue. In the equitation ring, Jayne-Rolfe earned ribbons in every major equitation final, including the reserve championship during the 2006 Washington Equitation Finals. She was the consecutive winner of the ASPCA Maclay Regionals for Region 4 in 2004 and 2005, having also won the Illinois Medal Finals in 2004. Later in 2006, she took home the Christy Conard trophy during WEF after winning the equitation circuit championship. Jayne-Rolfe is due to have her first child in November and has become an invaluable ground person to the Our Day Farm team while pregnant.

Both Patty and Barb Van-Heusen have been supporters of the derby weekend since it's inception. They say they are always the first sponsors on board for the next year.

"It's such a great event, why wouldn't we want to be involved?" added Barb.

The VanHousen's also gave cart rides with their donkey to raise funds for Healing Haven. Proceeds from the ticketed warm up and the lead line class also are donated to various charities.

With the Jayne sisters as the judges for Saturday's competition, riders will be able to practice what they learned from the clinic sessions. The weekend continues with the $500 Hall Saddlery 2’3” Hunter Derby, the $500 Le Cheval 2’6” Hunter Derby, the $1,000 Hope Memorial 2’9”-3’ Hunter Derby and the $1500 Purina 3’6” Hunter Derby. Saturday is capped off with the $2,500 Walsh Products Mini-Prix.
