Zone 5 Scholarship Winner Alexandria Morefield

September 26, 2010 - Each year Zone 5 awards a college scholarship to a deserving rider meeting the following criteria: each rider must demonstrate financial need, meet a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be a current USHJA and USEF member, attended at least three years of high school in Zone 5, (MI,IL,IN,OH,KY), and be accepted to a college. Applicants complete an essay on how horses have affected their life along with references and an application. The committee considers the academic achievement, leadership potential, service to the community, riding career, financial need and essay quality to choose the winner. Funds for the scholarship come from Zone 5 horse show managers, private donations, corporate donations, and special events and fundraisers.
